News Feed Items

Background

  • News feed items are tiles that appear on the user's homescreen
    • Unlike other items that appear in a user's feed which are automatically created, news feed items are manually created by PicassoMD admins
  • Some possible uses of news feed items are:
    • Feature announcements
    • Link to PicassoMD blog posts or videos
    • Link to survey we want our users to take
  • News feed items can be either High or Low priority
    • High priority items will appear above all other news feed items other than New Referral Received and Referral Updates
    • Low priority items will appear below all other news feed items and may not appear at all if a user has 15 or more higher priority items in their feed
    • High priority items also have the megaphone icon while low priority items do not

Creating and Managing New Feed Items

  • PicassoMD admins can create and manage News Feed items from the News Feed tab on the admin website
  • To create a News Feed item, click on the link to "Create News Feed Item" OR you can start by duplicating an existing news feed item
  • When creating a News Feed item you can specifiy:
    • Whether it's high priority, as described above
    • Headline (req for high priority only) = max 30 characters
    • Body (req) = max 200 characters
    • Starts date (req) = the first date the item will show in users' news feeds
    • Expiration (req) = the last date the item will show in users' news feeds
    • Link (optional) = user can selects what happens when a user taps on the news feed item:
      • web URL - will open a browser in a new window
      • screen within the PicassoMD app where the user will be taken to
      • Only one of the above options can be applied
      • Leave both blank if there should be no action upon tapping the item
  • PicassoMD admins can also view and manage existing news feed items (e.g. update the text or expiration date)
