Canceling Referrals

Why might I cancel a referral?

  • If the patient’s condition improves and the referral is no longer needed
  • If the referral was sent on accident or sent to the incorrect person/practice
  • If the referral needs to be sent to someone else do NOT cancel the referral, simply reroute it. For more info on how to reroute referrals, click here.

Who can cancel a referral?

  • Providers, Referral Coordinators, and Practice Admins can cancel any referral sent by their practice location.
  • Referral recipients cannot cancel referrals. However, if the patient is unable to make the appointment the referral can be made inactive by the referral recipient. For more information on how to make a referral inactive, click here.

How do I cancel a referral?

  • First, select the referral of interest
  • At the top right of the referral details page, click the "Cancel" button

  • A pop-up will appear and ask you if you are sure you'd like to cancel the referral, select "Continue" and you're all set!

  • We will automatically notify the receiving provider/practice that the referral has been canceled
  • Referrals can only be canceled if they do not have a scheduled appointment date AND were sent less than 90 days ago.
