Managing Referrals (Mobile App)

Overview: This article pertains only to managing referrals on the provider mobile app. Practice Admins and Referrals Coordinators can manage referrals using the PicassoMD web dashboard and should refer to the following support articles:

  • Canceling Referrals
  • Rerouting Referrals
  • Duplicating Referrals
  • Add External Referrals
  • How to Send A Web Referral
  • PicassoMD’s “Live Referrals” allows the providers and staff from the practices that sent and received the referral to collaborate on the patient’s care. This includes:
    • Receiving updates when a referral you sent has been viewed.
    • Receiving updates when an appointment date has been added or updated.
    • Sending and receiving notes between offices to ease coordination of care.
    • Attaching files and images easily (lab results, imaging, medical records) to the referral.
  • Referral Initiators have the ability to reroute, duplicate, or cancel the referral.
  • All sent and received referrals are accessible in the “referrals'' section of the app. Referrals with recent updates are shown first.
  • Providers will see all referrals sent by them, received referrals assigned to them, received referrals assigned to any of the office locations where they work, and received referrals that do not have an assigned provider.
  • For each referral in the list you’ll see the:
    • Patient name
    • Date the referral was originally sent
    • Acuity (Routine, Urgent, or Emergent)
    • The provider and practice where the referral originated or was sent
    • Appointment date, if added (if you are the recipient of the referral you can also tap to add or update the appointment date)
  • You can search for referrals by patient, provider or practice name.
  • You can also filter the list of referrals to view only referrals that:
    • You’ve sent to another provider
    • You’ve received from another provider
    • Scheduled (have an appointment date)
    • Unscheduled (do not have an appointment date)
    • Have an acuity of Urgent or Emergent
  • Clicking on any referral takes you to the details page of that referral where you can:
    • See the patient’s date of birth and contact information.
    • View, add, or update the appointment date (only the recipient of the referral can add or update the appointment date).
    • See a chronological history of the referral.
    • Add notes or send questions to the providers and staff at the other practice.
    • Attach pictures from your phone (e.g. click a photo of a lab result, EKG, patient rash to quickly communicate the patient's reason for visit).
